  • Right to purchase land freely 
  • Right to vote in CTA general elections, (through possession of a 'green book')
  • Right to all freedoms provided in the Indian Constitution, particularly those outlined in Article 19: Right to freedom of speech and expression, peaceful assembly, form associations and/or unions, move freely throughout the territory of India, reside and settle in any part of the territory of India, and practice any profession and carry on occupation, trade, or business (Article 19)
  • Prohibition of discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex, or place of birth (Article 15)
  • Equality of opportunity in matters of public employment (Article 16)
  • Protection of language, script, and culture of minorities (Article 29)
  • Right of minorities to establish and administer educational institutions (Article 30)
  • Guaranteed hassle-free domestic and international travel
  • Right to pursue study-abroad opportunities for continuing education 

RIGHTS YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO:

  • Ownership of an RC and/or IC upon applying for Indian citizenship (must surrender RC and IC cards)
  • Continue to receive benefits from the CTA (must present a written paper renouncing these benefits)
  • Receive benefits from RC and IC cards (must present a written paper stating renouncement of benefits received from RC and IC cards)
